Rome
Symphony
Auxiliary

A Welcome From The Co-Presidents
We
are pleased to serve as co-presidents for the next two years and to have the
support of the other officers. One of our efforts will be to try to increase
interest in and membership of the Rome Symphony Auxiliary. Fund raising is an
important aspect of what we do, particularly in these trying economic times. We
will continue sponsoring the symphony games twice this year and will try to
reach more non-Auxiliary members for participation. We also plan to have a
symphony market to sell Auxiliary-labeled products, such as totes and hand-made
items. The Auxiliary is seeking people who produce hand crafts (pottery, knit
wear, etc.) and would like to provide items to sell in the marketplace. Of
course we are open to other fund raising ideas and hope you will become a member
and get involved with the Auxiliary.
Diane
and I hope to make all our meetings fun social gatherings in addition to
business meetings. We’ll provide interesting musical programs, too.
We
thank you for the honor of serving and look forward to working with everybody.

History of the Rome Symphony Auxiliary
The Rome Symphony Women’s Association (RSWA) was
established in February, 1982 by business manager Kate Rodwell and the RSO
board member Nancy Weers. Officers were elected and committee chairpersons were
appointed at the 1982 General Meeting. In May, 2007, the Association opened its
doors to men and the group voted to change the name of the organization to the
Rome Symphony Auxiliary on September 21, 2007.
Purpose
The
purpose of the RSA is to provide assistance in the support of the Rome Symphony
Orchestra and to assist that body with its activities. The Auxiliary plans and
executes independent activities for fund raising, for education, and for
fostering support for the Symphony in the Rome/Floyd County community.
